Sharing on safety and respect
Indonesia’s Pusat Kajian dan Perlindungan Anak (PKPA), or the Center for Child Study and Protection, through their program ‘Stopping Cybercrime Against Children: More Safety and Protection on the Internet’, organised a child consultation with children from HEDIPRO, an Indonesian youth-led community and advocacy group dedicated to promoting internet safety, digital literacy, and the protection of children from online danger.
Children from diverse backgrounds, including those with visual and hearing disabilities, co-convened an accessible, safe, and participatory space to share experiences about children’s rights and online safety, deaf participants taught basic sign language to their non-deaf peers, and visually impaired children shared insights on communication etiquette and appropriate ways to offer assistance to persons with visual disabilities.
This session strengthened values of mutual respect, peer learning, and equality among children. Through a reflection paper titled ‘Hopes, Challenges, and Wishes’, each child expressed their ideas and aspirations regarding future activities that HEDIPRO could undertake.
‘Violence Ends with’: Asia-Pacific Youth-Led Summit on Ending Violence Against Children 2026
PKPA-supported youth achieved remarkable success in the Asia-Pacific level hackathon. Out of 33 teams from across the region, two representatives proudly brought home awards on Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) and on Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM).
Both winning teams received seed funding of USD 1,500 to further develop their solutions over the next six months and returned home to share their experiences at the forum with local schools, a powerful testament to the collaboration, courage, and commitment of young people to create real impact in the effort to end VAC.
