Missing Voices
The Coalition is excited to announce the launch of the Missing Voices project!
Missing Voices is steered by the Coalition for Good Schools, the Institute of Security Studies (ISS), and Raising Voices. This multi-media effort will feed into the Second Global Ministerial Conference to End Violence Against Children, co-hosted by the Government of the Philippines, the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF from 18-19 November 2026 in Manila, Philippines. Read more about the conference here: https://manila.endviolenceagainstchildrenconference.org.
Please read the below information about the project and when you are ready, click the buttons at top or bottom to submit your video.
Missing Voices invites voices and perspectives that are too often missing from global decision-making spaces. We invite a diversity of faces, voices, languages, and contexts to become part of this project — every voice and every submission matter equally towards building the final collection!
The video collection will be showcased at the Second Global Ministerial Conference across screens throughout the forum. These videos will be viewed by over 1,000 conference attendees, including ministers and high-level government officials from across the world who are committed to ending violence against children.
Our question to you is: what do they need to know about violence against children?
Your Voice Matters!
We invite you to share a self-recorded video for the Missing Voices collection. To submit your video statement, we invite you to think about the following question:
“If you could tell leaders ONE THING about violence against children, what would it be?”
Beyond the conference, your video may also be shared in communications campaigns on social media pages of the Coalition for Good Schools, the Institute of Security Studies (ISS), and Raising Voices to find a wider international audience and raise awareness about ending violence against children.
RECORDING YOUR VIDEO USING RECRAM
Videos will be collected using an online platform called RecRam (recram.com). The app can be used on your smartphone, computer or tablet. It is easy to use and will provide you with clear instructions. RecRam will also allow you to upload a pre-recorded video – just open the application and follow the navigation!
We encourage you to follow these suggested guidelines when recording a video of yourself or of others:
1. Pick as quiet a spot as possible; if you are helping someone else to record a video, please brief the participant beforehand so the answer comes out smoothly.
2. We encourage you to speak at your own pace and in a language that is most comfortable to you.
3. As much as possible, please film your video using landscape (horizontal) orientation; position the camera/phone so that the face and upper torso are visible within the frame (not a full-length view).
4. When you begin recording, please wait for a moment before you begin speaking. Then share your thoughts in no more than 1 minute. Please leave a few seconds of silence at the end of your video (this will help with the editing process).
5. RecRam will allow for playback of your video before you submit; RecRam automatically saves the video and will show you a confirmation message – you needn’t worry after this step!
6. You can voluntarily choose to record a video with your face hidden if you wish to not appear on camera.
Frame your responses beginning with the words “If I could tell you one thing…” and try to limit your response to ONE of the following prompts:
…about violence at school, violence at home, violence in the community, or violence online…
…about preventing violence at school, at home, in my community, or online…
…about what leaders need to know to prevent violence at school, at home, in my community or online…
Finally, end your video by looking directly into the camera and saying, “I am counting on you to do something about it!”
A FEW TIPS TO PREPARE YOUR RECORDING
Missing Voices videos should be no longer than 1-minute. We have a few suggestions on how to make the most of this short time:
1. Think through the question and prompts above before pressing ‘Record’ – we, don’t want you to sound rehearsed, but getting a few points ready to go will help you speak more confidently.
2. Skip the introduction – RecRam will provide you the space to log in your name and other basic details. So, when recording the video, you can comfortably skip any introduction and start with your main points.
3. Keep your focus on one or two issues – keep your answer focused on one or two specific issues connected to violence against children. Clarity will make your message more effective!
4. End with a call to action – we encourage you to end your video statement by looking directly into the camera and saying “I am counting on you to do something about it!”
NON-VIDEO SUBMISSIONS
If you are interested, you can also submit artwork, photographs, letters, or poems instead of (or alongside) a video to the Missing Voices project. You can respond to the same prompts as above, or others, for example,
“A safe school / family is one where….” or “A safe country is one where….”.
Be creative!
You can then send us your submissions by scanning (using platforms like Microsoft Office Lens or Google’s built-in scanner) to sh****@*********************ls.org.
SAFEGUARDING AND INCLUSION
Missing Voices is a voluntary participation project and is focused on collecting the video and non-video submissions of participants who understand the project’s aims and format, and consent to the use of their submissions.
Before you click the ‘I Consent’ button on RecRam:
1. Please read through all the available information on the RecRam app.
2. Please click on the ‘Participant Consent Form’ option when you are on the page. The link will open up a form for your reference. Please read carefully and fully.
3. Once you have read through, you can click the ‘I Consent’ button. Clicking this button means that you have read the form and agree to its content.
4. You are now ready to record!
Please note: For every participant who is a minor (aged below 18), we will reach out with an additional consent form to ensure that parents/legal guardians are also consenting on the participant’s behalf. This is a crucial safeguarding measure and the consent of the parent/legal guardian will be voluntary.
If you have any concerns or questions, please write to the Missing Voices team at sh****@*********************ls.org.
